How to remove glue from your floor.
The Concrete Camouflage, Concrete Stain Prep which is available in the tools & supplies category is about the best product to use. Because of the age, you may have to sand the floor also. It just depends.
You would apply the CSP and let it sit for about 20 to 30 minutes to soften the glue. Be sure to redistribute and add more as needed to ensure it does not dry. Then you would use large scrapers or painters shields on broom handles to scrape the glue into an area to be shoveled up. Re apply the CSP and scrub with straw brushes and mop up. Then you do a final clean with a higher dilution ratio for the final clean down.
Because of the age of the concrete, you may have to sand it after the initial scraping and before the scrub or after the scrub and before the final clean. If you do, then you can rent commercial floor sanders or use floor buffing machines with sanding pads. Sanding is not as bad as it sounds, you'll know if it is needed, and you don't need to sand that much if you do.
You will need to dilute the CSP by no more than 10:1 and maybe less, possibly even straight, for the initial stripping. You may be able to go up to 20:1 on the scrub if you got enough off during the scraping or if you sanded. You will be able to go as high as 40:1 for the final clean down. You should try a test corner first, because you want to be able to dilute the CSP as much as possible to keep the cost down, but you have to completely clean the glue out of the pores, and if you can use CSP only and avoid sanding, then that's all the better.
All tools and supplies are available in the Tools and Supplies category, or at your local home improvement store.
